First of all, Jasmin Tabatabai is of course one of Germany's biggest acting stars. Various stage engagements, cinema films and TV series, not least the role of inspector Mina Amiri in “Spur Berlin” for twelve years, have catapulted her into the top ranks of actresses. But the German-Iranian has also long been able to shine as a musician and singer. Her breakthrough came in 1997 with “Bandits”, in which she not only played a leading role alongside Katja Riemann and Nicolette Krebitz, but also wrote the soundtrack, which is still the best-selling soundtrack of an European film to date. After several pop albums, Tabatabai was awarded an Echo-Jazz for her first CD as a jazz and chanson singer “Eine Frau” in 2011. This project also marked the beginning of her collaboration with the Swiss saxophonist, arranger and producer David Klein, whom Tabatabai had already met in 2000 during the film screen adaption of Tucholskys “Gripsholm”. Their third album together, “Jagd auf Rehe” (Hunting Deer), now is their most versatile to date: the palette ranges from Schubert's classical “Ständchen” to songs by Annie Lennox, Cole Porter or Reinhard Mey and their own composition (“Anymore”), sung in German, English, French and Persian. All masterfully arranged by Klein and flawlessly accompanied by his quartet. For a Jasmin Tabatabai, who follows the singing tradition of a Marlene Dietrich or Hildegard Knef as georgious as nobody did for a long time.
