Since 2011 and on three albums to date, the virtuoso triumvirate of Munich bassist and cellist Henning Sieverts, guitarist Ronny Graupe (here on the seven-string!) and trombonist Nils Wogram - all three of whom have received numerous awards ranging from the Echo Jazz to the German Jazz Prize and are among the world's best in their field - have been exploring the dazzling beauty of musical symmetry. The unusual line-up alone makes every Symmethree concert by these exciting exceptional musicians an adventure. On their new and fourth album “Blues!”, which they are presenting at the Nightclub, everything revolves around the power of three chords and twelve bars. But this trio, famous for its creativity and subtle humor, naturally comes up with all kinds of metric, melodic and harmonic gimmicks for the archaic blues. For instance measure for measure is snipped off and then stuck back on again in “Salamiblues”. The Blues has never been so exciting and Symmethree has never sounded so accessible.
