As the child of a conductor and an opera singer, Alma Naidu was born into music. She was already on stage and composing at the age of 15. But it was a combination of talent, diligence, curiosity and ambition that made her one of the outstanding young German jazz voices. Her highly acclaimed debut album, awards such as the BMW Young Artist Jazz Award, tours with Wolfgang Haffner and a leading role in her time with the BundesJazzorchester (BuJazzo) testify to this, and she owes her success not least to her unbeatable versatility. You can hear that she has studied classical singing as well as musical and jazz singing, and on top of that she has retained the naturalness of a singer/songwriter. Naidu's new album “Redefine” with exclusively original songs that do not shy away from difficult topics such as equality and identity also proves the exceptional status of her technically outstanding, simultaneously spontaneous and emotional jazz singing. Star guests such as Mark Lettieri and Jason “JT” Thomas (both from Snarky Puppy), star cellist Raphaela Gromes and jazz greats such as Nils Landgren, Lisa Wulff and Simon Oslender enriched the recording. And Naidu also has prominent support at the Jazz Summer: with Torsten Goods, she is joined by the German George Benson as singer and guitarist.
